- Could you post your config.sys and your autoexec.bat for me. I'm having

- Subject: Trumpet Winsock: The Frustration Continues
-
- greetings,
-
- well, i downloaded the winapps.zip file (the files that came with the
- original winsock) and tested them with my slip connection. here are
- the results:
-
- TELW- does not work. when i use IP numbers, it says "trying
- x.x.x.x...Connected", but then it hangs and in the TCPMAN window I get
- the infamous "IP header checksum error". If i use a hostname (such as
- netcom3.netcom.com) i get a "runtime error 202 at 000D:006F." then the
- app quits.
-
- FTPW- haven't tried, but based on the results of the other apps, i
- don't think this one will work either.
-
- PINGW- sort of works. If i use IP addresses i get solid results. I
- pinged my old machine (epx.cis.umn.edu, 128.101.83.4) and my fiance's
- old machine (clark.edu, 192.102.5.2), i got ping times of average
- 400ms. however, if i use hostnames, i get the "runtime error 202", i
- thinks ometimes it is 204 also.
-
- HOPCHKW- the same as pingw. i am able to trace a route to both my and
- my fiancee's old machines. however, it said "Hop check
- finished...port unreachable" on each instance. If i use host names,
- the app crashes with the runtime error.
-
- what i'd like to know is, what am i doing wrong? again, here's my

- i'm going to try specifying a gateway and a packet vector but i don't

- Is your modem session using error correction? All the IP header checksum
- errors I get (entirely too frequently) have seemed to have to do with phone
- line noise. My SLIP feed hasn't been able to make error correction work on
- their modems, so I have to use a straight V.32 connection with no error
- correction or data compression. Their indial lines are notoriously noisy -
- I've fought it for years with no success. Given that I don't pay anything for
- the feed, I haven't been able to complain too loudly.

- Subject: TN3270 and WinSock
-
- Hi there
-
- I am in deep waters and need your help. I recently developed an object
- oriented interface (C++) enabling a MS-Windows application to exchange
- data with an IBM host. The interface currently supports APPC and HLLAPI
- (and multiple implementations of each standard).
- I have now been approached to implement a TCP/IP interface also. This
- should enable users of the MS-Windows based application to access the
- IBM host via modem (SLIP) or network. While I do realize that I will
- have to use WINSOCK.DLL to establish a connection to the IBM host, I
- am somewhat tapping in the dark what I can expect (mainly because I
- have not been able to establish a propper SLIP connection :-(, which
- is another problem I am currently facing).
- If you have had exposure to TN3270 (TELNET?) and one of HLLAPI/APPC,
- I would be pleased to hear from you. If you know of source code (that
- is available via FTP) that implements TN3270 emulation via WinSock, that
- would be fantastic. Otherwise, I am interested in any literature that
- covers this topic. Thanks in advance.
